Phase Diagram of Tapered Copolymers Based on Isoprene and Styrene

Although several phase diagrams of block copolymers prepared by sequential monomer addition are known today, the corresponding tapered have not been reported in detail and this despite industrial importance latter. A diagram based on a series diblock is reported, generated sec-butyllithium initiated statistical anionic copolymerization styrene isoprene cyclohexane. This affords with polyisoprene volume fractions, f, range 0.43 < f 0.82 total molar mass 46–160 kg mol–1. The consists lamellae, hexagonally packed cylinders, weakly ordered cylinders (CYL), perforated (PL) as well irregular bicontinuous morphologies. state bears some similarities distinct differences comparison to respective conventional addition. It shown that CYL/PL morphologies comprise large part significantly extended sequentially. On other hand, composition for similar two systems (0.64 fPI 0.68).
